Richard Elmendorf has done a tremendous amount of research on the Foucault Pendulum and has published it in an illustrated 84-page monograph entitled Heliocentric Humbug! A critical investigation of the Foucault Pendulum.
Although the casual reader may get the impression that Dick Elmendorf thinks the Foucault pendulum to be a forgery, such is not his claim. After all, the pendulum twists the way it does because of the relative rotation of Earth and stars, so it should work the same way in both geocentric and heliocentric universes. Other than that minor detail, this is a magnificent piece of work.
We'd like to make this available through the Association for Biblical Astronomy but currently it may be ordered for $5 from the Pittsburgh Creation Society, P.O. Box 267, Bairdford, PA 15006, U.S.A. Please add appropriate postage (about $2.50 should cover postage, and shipping envelope, I think). At $5 it's a steal. It can't cost much less to make.
One personal note about Dick's work. He writes that most Foucault pendulums are not free-swinging, that they are damped and are constrained to swing in a plane. Without such damping the bob tends to start tracing out an ellipse which makes it hard to see the precession.

All Foucault pendulums are FAKES!!
Real scientists have known for centuries that pendulums are affected by the daily orbit of the moon. Foucault pendulums are all FAKES because they have to be FIXED in order to stay swinging in a certain way so that the DEMONstrators can "prove" that the Earth rotates!!
Most people are familiar with the simple pendulum clock that swings back and forth on a fixed plane and keeps track of time. A Foucault pendulum is not like that at all. That pendulum is supposed to swing freely in any direction. If a pendulum clock was built like a Foucault pendulum, the pendulum would never tell time correctly but would swing wildly and eventually break the glass in the clock.
The pendulum in a pendulum clock swings back and forth and keeps track of time. The weights keep the pendulum swinging.
A Foucault pendulum is supposed to swing freely in any direction called an elliptic. Inertial forces act on the pendulum and can make it swing wildly.
A Foucault pendulum is a heavy round ball called a "bob" attached to a support by a long wire.
The upper support point is a very critical part of a Foucault pendulum, although not usually seen by visitors. It must be as rigid as possible with respect to the floor below. It must incorporate a means to grip the wire and support the weight of the bob, while still allowing the wire to swing freely in any direction. This is accomplished in some cases with a universal joint arrangement such as a double knife-edge, rolling cylinders, gimballed bearings, loops of silk or catgut, and the like, and in others by fixing the wire solidly to the support and allowing it to bend below the support to provide the necessary motion. Spherical air bearings have also been tried on a few units.
In order to get a Foucault pendulum to stop swinging wildly at certain times of the day and work as the demonstrators want it to work; three things must happen. It must be DRIVEN, DAMPED and TUNED.

The reason why Foucault pendulums are driven, damped and tuned is because there are powerful forces of INERTIA working on the pendulum. The sun and moon orbit the Earth once every day, and their combined forces create tidal energy which moves millions of gallons of water. That is why Foucault pendulums have a diurnal rotation.
The UN pendulum is driven by a magnetic coil in the center of the ring. That is what keeps it swinging endlessly. It is DAMPED by means of a Charron ring which retards the swing, and it is tuned by the pied piper who wants to lead everybody to hell. Some of these fakes have a magnet hidden under the floor in order to retard the wild swinging.
